HydroDot System FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions:
How many times can the EzeNet® headpiece be used?
The EzeNet® headpiece is guaranteed to remain accurate for one year from date of purchase. With proper care and handling, 500 to 600 uses are not uncommon.
What type of electrodes does the HydroDot® System use?
The HydroDot® Biosensors (left picture below) are Ag/AgCl Electrodes with a propriety hydrogel that leaves virtually no residue on the patients skin or hair.
Where do I put my reference and ground electrodes?
The EzeNet® headpiece has extra electrode placement for use as reference and ground at the FPz and Oz locations. The open design, allows you to bypass these fixed locations and place a reference and ground where you choose. We recommend using Ag/AgCl electrodes such as HydroSpots®.
How is the EzeNet® cleaned?
The HydroDot® Biosensors are easily removed and discarded. The EzeNet® headpiece may be washed with mild detergent in warm water and, if necessary, disinfected.
How long does the EzeNet® take to dry?
The EzeNet® may be patted dry with a towel and reused as soon as the sockets dry.
What is the best way to get started?
Starter Kits are available in medium and large sizes, the most commonly used sizes of EzeNets®. Each kit includes an EzeNet® headpiece, EEG Interface Cable, instructional DVD, 5 packs of HydroDot® Biosensors and 5 cups of Waveprep™ skin prep.
Waveprep™ (far right picture) is specially formulated to give the lowest impedence and best results with the HydroDot® System.
What about using the system on long hair or difficult patients?
The instructional DVD demonstrates application techniques for almost every hair type. As with anything new, there will be a learning curve, but with a bit of practice, you will learn how to apply the system to all hair types. We recommend you start with shorter hair and cooperative patients, but you will find that long hair is actually quite easy to work with. As with any electrode application, there will be an occasional patient who is difficult to work with, but you will be able to set up the majority of patients quickly and easily once you are familiar with the HydroDot® System..
How much does it cost?
Cost analysis has shown that the HydroDot® Systems total cost of labor and supplies is almost the same as or even lower than traditional electrode applications. Take into account the ease of application, improved patient comfort and reduced risk of infection, and the HydroDot® System becomes the clear choice.
How long can the EzeNet® be used on the patient?
We recommend that the HydroDot® System is used for no more than four hours at a time. After this time, the patient may begin to experience some discomfort.
